Up for scoring! Votes and comments much appreciated. :)

This has been something I've been working on in kind of a different style, actually a re-working of an old design. Still a bit concerned about the composition and not sure what elements to add, if any.

I was thinking of adding some extra foliage around the TV to break up that square and maybe one more animal, like a rabbit or a turtle. So, what do you think of it so far? Suggestions appreciated.

UPDATE: added tortoise and extra plant. Also moved the tree "antennae" down because most TV's don't have them and it was confusing some people. Also compositionally it works much better now I think.

Subbed! Thanks so much for all of your wonderful advice and support on this, it helped so much. :)

i love it

I think if the raccoons nose did not end up right on the edge of the screen. like if it overlapped or was spaced a bit more it would be just slightly more pleasing to the eye.

but this is a great shirt -

Thanks Joe! :) You're totally right and I will try and move the raccoon more inwards then, because I don't want him any closer to the edge of the shirt.

So much funny and great illo work here man!

Probably too over the top, but a nice simple waterfall on the left side in the background could work too.

   eskimokiss on Nov 28 '09 at 3:51am
One thing I would suggest though, is to add another creature or two in the middle forground of the illustration so that the bottom of the design isn't so flat. Also perhaps try another plant/tree on the other side o the tv to balance it out a little.

Wow! 5555555 Add turtle and rabbit would be great too.
why that adorable bird doesn't want to watch the tv ;D

Thanks people! :)

Evan - that's a really cool idea but would be too distracting I think, because there's so much going on as it is.

eskimokiss - some very good suggestions. I'm going to try and work on this more on the weekend.

I agree another plant coming out from the left side of the tv, much in the same vein as the tree behind it now, would really round it off nicely. Great illo as usual!
igo2cairo
   igo2cairo on Nov 28 '09 at 5:21am
thanks brentendo. :) actually the tree was supposed to be growing out of the TV to suggest an antennae, but I can see why you would think otherwise. good thing I posted this, getting all sorts of valuable feed-back.

whoa, sweet dude!

I'd just recommend a little detail on the toad and the lizard so they don't look so smooth and rubbery: e.g. warts and bumps on the toad, and some hint of scaly texture or pattern on the lizard.

Cheers Evan! Yep, I'm pretty happy with how this is going, think it's about ready to sub. Maybe I'll start working on a presentation. I'm wearing "I listen to bands that don't even exist yet" btw :)

Added some extra texture to the toad and lizard, looks a lot better, thanks again Sam.

Would love to know your process with this style of illustration.
It looks like you've used colouring pencils? Or is it mostly digitally coloured?
igo2cairo
   igo2cairo on Nov 29 '09 at 9:00pm
Thanks Pascal.. : )

I used a black pencil crayon for the actual illustration and most of the shading/texture, then it was all coloured in Ps.

Nathan - haha, yeah, it was time to mix it up! "Moving to Moscow" was also kind of different stylistically, although I admit it still falls in the "stuff in the sky that's not supposed to be in the sky"category. ;)
